Pearly Whites

Why buy teething rings when you have...

Your toes

Dad's knee

The remote

Your thumb

6 months old and Conner already has 4 teeth. Even though he bites me, I just can't get enough. It makes those smiles even better.

Lets Go Mets

Last weekend we made it to a Mets game.

The first part of the game was very slow and boring, but by the last 2 innings the excitment came when they evened the score and had a few hits. To be honest, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the new stadium more than the game itself. I think Conner felt the same way.

It was a great way to get out of the city and enjoy a game.

Remembering 9-11

I wasn't sure how I would feel today, being here during the 10th anniversary of September 11th. It's different being in the city where it all happened. It's different seeing exactly where the towers stood. It's different seeing an empty spot among all the buildings downtown where they once were. It's different to watch all the documentaries and knowing exactly where it all happened. It's also different because 10 years ago I wasn't here.

Of the many documentaries that I've watched over the last week, one statement a woman on the street made was how different it was seeing the destruction in person. I can't imagine how frightening it must have been for everyone who lives here. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't fully understand what was going on when the towers were hit. I was still in High School and instead of being worried about world events, I was worried about seeing a certain boy in math class that day. It goes to show you where the minds of high school girls are....or at least where my mind was. After a few hours I noticed how worried the teachers and other adults at school were. Coming home I remember my mom sitting on the couch with tears on her cheeks. I knew then that it was bigger than I would probably ever understand.

This morning Jon and I watched the memorial service they had at the site. While the names of each victim were read aloud, Jon and I sat together and this time I had tears on my cheeks. Tears for those babies whose fathers never came home. At this point in my life that hit me the hardest.

The greatest part of today was going to church and being reminded that life
continues after death. Knowing that we can be together with our families forever. Nothing brings more peace to me. I hope this day can remind us to share that message of peace, hope, and the happiness of knowing that this is not the end.

Squash and Rolls

I know the Grandparents don't think we are posting enough about Conner, so here is a little bit of fun to keep them happy.

Conner got his first taste of food this week.

He also decided that he loves to just keep rolling and rolling and rolling...but only on the bed. The second you put him on the floor he won't roll at all. It's so funny.

He had one last trick up his sleeve and decided that he loves to stand on the couch and look at himself in the mirror. Adorable.

Wall Street

A few days ago we went downtown to visit the financial district. We passed by the Staten Island Ferry and checked out the Statue of Liberty.

Then we headed over to Federal Hall where George Washington took his oath as the first President.

Our next stop was Trinity Church.

I wanted to wait to check out the World Trade Center until after the memorial on Sunday. We'll post on that when we go later in the month.

Next was The New York Stock Exchange

We are headed to a Mets game tomorrow, we are really excited. I hope we catch a foul ball!

A Tour

First I'll appologize for the lack of posts last week. Jon had the weekend off so we were out and about and I didn't get a chance, but I'll make it up to you this week. Lots of posts are coming. T

Today you get to enjoy a little tour of our place. We made a video that was much longer and had a little more detail, but alas, it was too long to upload to blogger, so we made a shorter version.

I hope everyone is enjoying the first few weeks of school and the U.S Open. We saw Rafa Nadal yesterday...our first famous person sighting. It was very exciting.
