Life Lesson Revealed

As a teenager, my mother constantly asked me to clean my room. Like most teenagers, I would roll my eyes and tell her to just shut the door if it bothered her so much. What she failed to mention was that she was preparing me for later in life.

She didn't explain that all the practice I would get from cleaning my room would help get me ready for cleaning up after my spouse.... I mean house.

I should give Jon more credit. He is really good at picking up after himself.

It was also preparing me for cleaning up after this.

And this.

And this.

And finally this.

My mom really owes me an apology. I should have been better prepared for this.

A Birthday Party

Just a few photos of Conner's Birthday party. He's only one, and I'm a believer in simple easy birthdays when your kids are too young to even realize what is going on. Pizza, cupcakes and ice cream. And everyone packed into our little apartment. It was lovely.

My parents gave Conner a glow worm and a quiet book. I LOVED my glow worm growing up...as you can see I'm a little more excited than Conner is about this gift.

He also got a walk and ride dino from Grandma Nette and Grandpa Dave. It took him a few days to warm up to it, but now he's cruisin' around the apartment.

Next was cupcake time. He wasn't sure what to do at first, and we had more cake all over than actually in the mouth, but he still enjoyed it.

It was a great party with our families. Can't wait for next year!

One Year Older and Wiser Too

A year has come and gone. All I can say about this year is...

I've loved it.

It's hard.

It's frustrating.

It's fun.

It's rewarding.

It's the best thing I've ever done.

How can you not love this face.
