2010 was a year of unexpected twists and turns at our house. In some ways it flew by so fast, and in other ways it felt like 12 long months.
Our year started off with a move into the house I grew up in, and a goodbye to these two. The 12 long months are mostly associated with them. I'm finally to the point where I feel time is going by faster. I smile knowing that in 6 short months they will be home.
We were able to enjoy a lot of time with Jon's family this year. His brother's family visited in July, we were able to go to Minnesota in August and have everyone there, and then we spent Thanksgiving in Houston. It's been great to spend time with everyone.
In July we were thrilled to find out we were expecting our first baby. I spent a lot of time by the toilet the next few months, but eventually started feeling better and am so grateful that the pregnancy has gone so well.
August was our big trip to Minnesota where we did a lot of boating, took in a baseball game, played rock band until we got blisters, and did some more boating. We loved it.
Our Thanksgiving was spent in Houston and Christmas was here with my family...minus a few people. It was different this year for me to celebrate the holidays without my parents. We took advantage of Skype and had a few phone calls and made it through. I hope next year we'll all be able to be together.
2011 will be a big year for us. We'll be welcoming our little guy in just a few months. We've been getting ready and are getting really excited. I'm afraid to turn into a mommy blogger, but I can already feel my maternal instincts kicking in. I am so excited to be a mom, but I'm also so excited that in a few months I get to see my own parents. It's going to be a wonderful reunion. I'm looking forward to 2011, I hope you are too!
